The Venus ‘star points’ refer to the exact times of when our Sun and the planet Venus line up with each other, called a Conjunction or Cazimi, and which is a natural cycle of Venus, observed from Earth for many years, as long ago as recorded by the Mayans as in the Dresden Codex, and even further back, 3,700 years before that, by the Babylonians c 1700 BCE.

Venus returning to and lining up with the same position as the Sun, which happens approximately every 19 months, or about 584 days, as she retrogrades through her Synodic Cycle, consisting of:

  • Superior conjunction (behind the Sun) (06 Jan. 2026);
  • Geocentric Apogee – furthest in its orbit from Earth, or maximum distance from Earth – (Venus on far side of the Sun as seen from Earth) (08 Jan. 2026);
  • Evening Star appearance (first visibility) (observed late Jan. 2026);
  • Greatest Eastern elongation (15 Aug. 2026);
  • Inferior conjunction (between Earth and the Sun) (24 Oct. 2026);
  • Geocentric Perigee – closest in its orbit to Earth, or minimum distance from Earth – (Venus passes between Earth and the Sun) (25 Oct. 2026);
  • Morning Star appearance (first visibility) (observed early Nov. 2026);
  • Greatest Western elongation (03 Jan. 2027);
  • Geocentric Apogee – furthest in its orbit from Earth, or maximum distance from Earth – (Venus on far side of the Sun as seen from Earth) (08 Aug. 2027);
  • Superior conjunction (behind the Sun) (12 Aug. 2027);

and so on, before returning to the same configuration again, after five synodic periods, eight years later (2034), in a continuing, never-ending cycle.

Note: ‘First visibility’ is not a fixed astronomical event with precise date and time, but an observational phenomenon, dependent on the following:

  • observer latitude;
  • atmospheric extinction (Earth’s atmosphere, humidity, dust, aerosols);
  • horizon altitude (local topography);
  • season of the year;
  • angle of the ecliptic to the horizon (steep ecliptic angle lifts Venus rapidly out of twilight vs shallow angle keeps Venus near the horizon and hidden longer);
  • limiting naked-eye magnitude (clear, dark sky vs hazy sky), and twilight definition.

So, the Venus Star Points are not actual, individual ‘stars’, but the ‘star-points’ are formed by Venus’ synodic cycle, and her conjunctions with the Sun, 5 cycles, over an 8-year period, which is what forms a five-pointed star shape or pattern. It is also referred to as the ‘Rose of Venus’, pentagram or pentacle.

Therefore, it is important to remember, the interpretation of the Venus Star Point (VSP) in Astrology is different from the interpretation of the natal Venus position in your birth chart – the exact position where Venus was at the time you were born. Your Venus Star Point, however, would be the pre-natal conjunction between the Sun and Venus just before you were born.

Whereas your natal Venus potential is more passive, the VSP potential is more active and dynamic, which can be described in a very simplistic way as the difference between having the affinity to appreciate elaborate artworks, vs having the ability to actually paint them yourself. Your VSP imbues you with inherent gifts you can actively use in your life, and is such an ingrained part of who you are, that these talents simply flow and come naturally.
