CIGNO ASTRO – ETHICAL PRACTICE
I, Deborah-Anne Swanepoel, practicing Astrology, as a Registered Professional Practitioner, with Cigno Astro (Pty.) Ltd., hereby attest my intentions, executed with sincerity, due diligence, and the best of my abilities, to:
- resolve, above all else, to not knowingly bring harm or ill-will against anyone seeking astrological insight for self-awareness;
- guide and support anyone seeking astrological insight, with sensitivity and respect, recognizing and encouraging their autonomy, and to insist they make their own informed decisions based on their own free will;
- strive not to alarm anyone seeking astrological insight with extremely negative interpretations, nor to inadvertently create false hopes or unrealistic expectations, and to always emphasize that all astrological configurations and interpretations indicate latent potential, with many possibilities and probabilities that could manifest in a variety of ways, without negating free will and the freedom of choice;
- respect that everyone has the right to freedom of conscience, beliefs and convictions, as entrenched in our Constitution, and the right to freedom of expression of those beliefs and convictions within the Law, and not to impose any of mine on anyone, with this mutual respect and understanding going both ways, vice versa;
- protect, maintain, and destroy, with the strictest confidentiality, all information and data provided in private for astrological interpretation, as may be legally required according to privacy legislation, except in situations where my silence would be grievously harmful to another person, legal entity, private property, or minor;
- establish and maintain appropriate, professional, and clear boundaries, regarding my own personal needs, goals, and aspirations, whether that may be sexual, financial or emotional, and unequivocally reserve my rights to report anyone who crosses these boundaries;
- constantly improve my astrological knowledge and skills, to share knowledge only within the boundaries and limitations of my expertise, and to never hesitate to refer anyone seeking astrological insight to other Astrologers, or Professionals in other disciplines, when necessary and appropriate;
- resolve to remain true to the spirit and principles of Astrology, and to agree to cooperate respectfully if ever named in any complaint or dispute.
